Khotyn National Nature Park

Khotyn National Nature Park is a protected area stretching along the Dniester River, featuring deep canyons and varied rock formations that rise and fall dramatically across the landscape. The terrain includes steep cliffs, forests, and valleys that create a diverse natural environment for wildlife and plants.

The protected area was established as a national park in 2010 and contains archaeological evidence from ancient human settlement periods and early Slavic cultural activity. The canyon itself formed over millions of years through erosion of the river.

Educational programs within the park focus on environmental protection while providing visitors with insights into local biodiversity and conservation methods.

The park features multiple hiking trails and camping areas with varying difficulty levels for different visitors. Access is possible from several regional towns, and the best time to visit is between May and October when weather conditions are most stable.

The Shumylo waterfall, standing about 34 meters tall, is one of the most striking falls in this region of Eastern Europe. Many visitors miss this waterfall despite it being reachable via well-marked trails.
