Museum of History and Culture of Luhansk

The Museum of History and Culture of Luhansk occupies a former City Council building and houses approximately 50,000 exhibits. The building also contains a library with books related to local history.

The building was constructed in the 1880s as an administrative center and converted to a museum in 1990. After suffering damage during regional unrest in the early 2010s, the building was later restored.

The main exhibition titled Old Luhansk displays objects from around 1900, including tools and everyday items from factory workers' lives. This collection tells the story of how people lived and worked in the city during that period.

The museum is located in a central area of the city and is accessible on foot. Visitors should check ahead since the facility may have limited operating hours.

The museum's library contains a rare encyclopedia that once belonged to a prominent Soviet politician. This book represents an unusual connection between Western intellectual circles and the Soviet Union.
