Кочубеївські дуби

Kochubey Oaks are four monumental oak trees in Dykanka Park, with three arranged in a row marking the former estate entrance and one standing apart deeper in the forest. Their massive trunks and sprawling canopies create impressive natural monuments that dominate the woodland landscape.

These trees began growing about 800 years ago, long before the Kochubey family established their nearby estate and shaped the region. They have been protected as a natural monument since 1964, reflecting their importance to the nation.

The oaks are woven into local stories about secret meetings between Motria and Hetman Mazepa, connecting them to the region's noble past. This link to historical figures gives visitors a sense of how rural communities keep their heritage alive through tales tied to the land.

The park has walking paths and wooden benches positioned near the trees, making it easy to spend time in their presence and rest comfortably. A visit works well in any season, though the shade beneath the canopies offers relief during warm months.

The three oaks arranged in a line once served as a ceremonial pathway leading visitors to the estate entrance, intentionally designed to display the family's power and prosperity. This deliberate arrangement sets them apart from other ancient trees and reveals how the landscape was purposefully shaped.
