Church of the Intercession

The Church of the Intercession is a brick building with four symmetrical apses arranged in a cross shape, topped by an elevated central dome and a two-tiered bell tower. The interior spaces reflect traditional Orthodox design and are accessible to visitors during services.

The building was constructed between 1757 and 1765 using funds from local merchants and replaced an older wooden predecessor. This reconstruction demonstrates how religious communities expanded and solidified their structures during the 18th century.

The church serves as a center for religious gatherings and maintains publication of the Pokrova newspaper for its congregation.

The church sits southeast of Chernihiv and is accessible via regular routes in the area. Visitors should be aware of active service times and dress appropriately if they wish to participate in religious gatherings.

The building displays a rare tetraconch architectural form, where four apses are arranged symmetrically around a central space. This design was uncommon in Ukrainian church architecture of the 18th century and makes the structure architecturally noteworthy.
