Terebovlia Castle, Medieval castle ruins in Terebovlia, Ukraine
The stone fortress stands atop a hill near the Seret River, featuring defensive walls reaching five meters in thickness with multiple tower configurations.
Constructed in 1631 under starosta Aleksander Bałaban's direction, the castle served as a crucial defensive structure during the Polish-Ottoman War between 1672 and 1676.
The castle grounds contain remnants of ancient Slavic settlements, demonstrating the continuous occupation and regional governance traditions spanning many centuries.
Visitors can explore the castle ruins while enjoying views of Terebovlia town from the elevated position of the fortress grounds.
The castle's defense systems incorporated different tower shapes, including elliptical, square, and pentagonal designs, each with specific military purposes.
