Church of the Archangel Michael, Orthodox church in Chernihiv, Ukraine.
The Church of the Archangel Michael is a round structure with paired windows and three entrances, one facing west and two on the sides. An octagonal bell tower standing 34 meters (112 feet) tall rises from the complex and forms the focal point of the site.
Construction started in 2001 and the building was largely completed by 2011. The design takes inspiration from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, modified according to community wishes.
The carved wooden screens in the interior display gospel scenes and images of saints, creating a rich visual setting for worship. These artistic elements help shape how the space feels when you walk inside and pray.
A well on the grounds provides water that local people regard as holy. The site also has a Sunday school for children, showing it serves as an active community gathering place.
The octagonal tower uses a geometric form that is unusual in modern church buildings. This choice blends traditional religious symbolism with a contemporary design style that stands apart from other churches in the area.
