National Nature Park Zalissya

National Nature Park Zalissya spreads across a large forested area along the left bank of the Desna River, encompassing woodlands, wetlands, and various natural habitats. The terrain includes rivers, standing water, and meadows mixed with different types of forest growth.

The park was officially established in December 2009 as part of Ukraine's broader effort to protect natural areas following independence. The designation recognized the ecological importance of this river valley and its role in preserving regional biodiversity.

The park serves as a meeting place where locals and visitors come to experience river-based landscapes and forest ecosystems up close. People use the trails and clearings to connect with nature and understand how wetlands and woodlands support wildlife.

Visitors can explore the park on marked trails that pass through different landscape types and offer varying difficulty levels. The warmer months are ideal for visiting when trails are dry and wildlife is most visible throughout the day.

Pine forests dominate much of the landscape, with many trees having grown for over 100 years and shaping the distinctive character of the woods. These ancient stands create a sense of continuity and provide habitat for specialized wildlife adapted to mature forest conditions.
