Borysohlibska Church in Vyshhorod, Orthodox church in Vyshhorod, Ukraine
Borysohlibska Church is an Orthodox church building in Vyshhorod, set on Hill Olha with traditional Orthodox architecture featuring distinctive domes and a rectangular floor plan. The structure serves as an active religious center where regular services continue to be held.
The church was founded by Prince Vladimir in 1021, making it one of the oldest religious structures in the region. A major reconstruction in the 19th century by architect Konstantin Thon gave the building much of its present form.
The church is dedicated to Saints Boris and Gleb, two early East Slavic saints whose veneration has remained central to the local faith community for centuries. Visitors can experience regular services held in Ukrainian, which reflect the deep spiritual roots of the region.
The church is located at Petra Kalnyshevskoho Street 11A in Vyshhorod and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors should keep in mind this is an active place of worship, so appropriate dress and respectful behavior are expected.
Archaeological excavations near the church have revealed foundations of medieval structures, including remains of an ancient Rus hillfort. These discoveries show the hill was an important fortified settlement long before the current building was constructed.
