SSTU A.S. Makanerko Botanical garden

This botanical garden occupies roughly 5 hectares within the grounds of Sumy State Pedagogical University and contains diverse plant collections. The grounds hold experimental areas and research facilities dedicated to studying and preserving plant species.

Established in 1973, this garden became an important center for plant research and conservation in the Sumy region. Over the following decades, the collections expanded and new research areas were added to document and protect local plant diversity.

The space serves as a working study center where students and researchers actively examine plant species and their ability to adapt to the local environment. Visitors can observe how daily work contributes to preserving the plant diversity found in the region.

The garden is open during regular hours, allowing visitors to explore the different plant areas at their own pace. Guided tours and educational workshops are available to help deepen understanding of the plant collections.

The grounds feature specialized experimental zones where researchers test how different plant species respond to varying environmental conditions. These experimental areas allow scientists to study plant resilience against climate changes.
