Maliivtsi Palace, Palace complex in Maliyivtsi, Ukraine
Maliivtsi Palace is a grand residence in the Ushky River valley built in the 18th century, blending European architectural styles in its design. The building stands within a landscaped park and retains its original exterior appearance despite the passage of time.
The land was acquired in 1758, and construction of the palace began in 1788 under the Orlovsky family. The complex developed over decades under successive wealthy owners who filled it with furnishings and collections.
The palace once housed an important art collection that reflected the refined tastes of its wealthy owners across generations. The structure itself still bears the marks of this cultivated past in its design and architectural details.
The exterior of the building is accessible and the surrounding park can be explored, though the interior remains closed to visitors. It is best to admire the structure from outside and walk the grounds to fully appreciate the setting.
When conflict came to the region, the last owner managed to move the most valuable books and artworks to safety by sending them westward. This rescue effort saved a substantial portion of these treasures from destruction.
