Eton

Eton sits on the northern bank of the River Thames directly across from Windsor, featuring stone buildings that line its main street. The layout is compact, with High Street as its commercial core connected to the adjacent town by bridge.

King Henry VI chose this location in 1440 to found Eton College, which triggered extensive construction and development throughout the area. The founding sparked the growth of inns and businesses along High Street to serve the college community.
