Elland Road, Association football stadium in Leeds, England
Elland Road is an association football, rugby union and rugby league venue in Leeds, England. The complex sits on a rectangular plot in the southwest of the city, surrounded by residential streets and industrial buildings.
The ground opened in 1897 as a venue for several clubs and only later received its current name. Leeds United moved here in 1919 and made the site their permanent home.
The ground takes its name from the road running along the south side, which gave the whole complex its identity. On match days, supporters gather hours before kickoff in the pubs nearby, forming part of the local football tradition.
The ground is reachable by several bus routes and sits around 25 minutes on foot from the main railway station. Those arriving by car will find parking in the surrounding area, though spaces fill early on match days.
The playing surface combines natural and synthetic fibres, which keeps it usable throughout the year. This construction allows for consistent quality even with heavy use across different sports.
