The regional airport and two major highways make arriving from different directions straightforward. The city is easy to explore on foot or by car, with most businesses and facilities offering free parking.
On June 3, 1980, seven tornadoes struck the city within a few hours, destroying large parts of the South Locust business district. The rebuilding led to wider streets and a changed cityscape in that area.
