Jefferson County, County administrative division in Charles Town, West Virginia
Jefferson County extends across 210 square miles of land in the Eastern Panhandle region, between the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah River.
The county, established in 1801 from Berkeley County, received its name from Thomas Jefferson and served as the location for John Brown's trial.
The Spirit of Jefferson newspaper, founded in 1844, maintains its status as West Virginia's longest continuously published periodical.
