Lenoir County is an administrative division in eastern North Carolina with Kinston as its county seat. The region features the Neuse River running through it, with agricultural areas and forests making up much of the landscape.
The area was established in 1791 and named after William Lenoir, a military officer from the American Revolutionary War. It developed afterward as an agricultural center that grew in local economic importance.
