Oglala Lakota County, formerly Shannon County, is situated within the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
This county was renamed in 2015 to honor the Oglala Sioux tribe.
The county's population is predominantly Native American, with the Oglala Sioux Tribe being the majority.
Tourists can explore Badlands National Park which partially lies in Oglala Lakota County.
It is the only county in South Dakota that does not have its own county seat.
