Piedmont Triad International Airport, Major airport in Greensboro, United States
Piedmont Triad International Airport is an airport in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States, connecting the surrounding metro area with domestic and international destinations through scheduled passenger services. The facility operates three runways designed to accommodate different aircraft sizes, handling both commercial flights and cargo operations.
The facility began operations in 1927 after the Tri-City Airport Commission selected a site near Friendship, with the first commercial flight taking place the following year. Over the decades, the airport expanded multiple times to accommodate growing passenger numbers and larger aircraft.
The terminal building houses local art exhibitions and displays that reflect the industrial heritage of North Carolina's Piedmont region.
The terminal is arranged over two public levels with separate areas for baggage claim and check-in assigned to each of the two concourses. Travelers should allow time for security screening and follow signage to navigate between levels.
The airport campus hosts the global headquarters of Honda Aircraft Company, where over 1700 employees work on producing business jets. The manufacturing facilities sit directly beside the passenger terminals and are visible from the air when landing.
