Port Jervis, Transportation center in Orange County, New York.

Port Jervis is a city in Orange County, New York, situated at the meeting point of the Neversink and Delaware rivers. The landscape around it includes the Appalachian Plateau and Shawangunk Mountains, creating a valley setting at 122 meters elevation.

The settlement started in 1690 as Mahackamack before being renamed in 1827 to honor John B. Jervis, the chief engineer of the Delaware and Hudson Canal. This name change reflected the town's growing importance as a transportation hub.

The parks here serve as gathering places where residents spend time outdoors and celebrate together throughout the year. These green spaces are where the community comes together for events and daily recreation.

The Port Jervis Line connects the city to Hoboken and New York City by rail. Interstate 84 provides direct highway access to major regional destinations, making it easy to reach neighboring areas.

The Tri-States Monument at the southwestern corner marks the exact spot where New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania meet. Visitors often pass by this spot without realizing its geographic significance.
