Chardon

Chardon is the county seat of Geauga County in Ohio and sits roughly 10 miles south of Lake Erie. The city covers approximately 4.6 square miles and functions as part of the broader Cleveland metropolitan area.

Chardon Township was established in 1812 and gradually developed as a local administrative center. It became an official city in 2001 after its population crossed the 5,000 threshold.

The Geauga Lyric Theater Guild performs in a converted Art Deco building downtown that once served as a movie theater. Live performances remain an important part of how residents spend their time together.

The area has several well-performing schools including one high school, a middle school, and two elementary schools serving local families. Downtown offers convenient access to shops and gathering spaces that are easy to explore on foot.

The city sits on a ridge near Lake Erie and receives around 107 inches of snow yearly. This makes it one of Ohio's snowiest spots and shapes how residents experience winter each year.
