Tinley Park

Tinley Park is a village in Cook County located south of Chicago, with residential areas mixed throughout with commercial and retail zones. The community integrates neighborhoods and business districts across its territory.

The settlement was established as Bremen in 1853 and renamed in 1890 after Samuel Tinley Sr, the first railroad station agent. The name change marked a turning point as the place grew from a small settlement into an established community.

The Old Zion Landmark Church displays objects and papers showing how German settlers shaped the community. You can observe how their traditions are still remembered in the local buildings and institutions.

The village provides a range of hotels and restaurants alongside various shops for everyday needs and shopping. Visitors can easily find places to stay, eat, and access necessary services.

Five Indianapolis 500 race drivers came from this village, including several members of the Bettenhausen family. Their racing achievements brought international attention to a small Midwestern town.
