Phoenix, Wooden roller coaster at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, US
Phoenix is a wooden roller coaster featuring a track that spans roughly 3,200 feet with dramatic drops and turns throughout. Trains carrying 24 passengers in pairs navigate the course, with each rider secured by a lap bar during the two-minute ride.
The coaster originated as The Rocket in Texas in 1947 and operated there for decades before being dismantled. It was reconstructed at its current location in 1985 and has remained a popular attraction since then.
The ride brings together enthusiasts who share a passion for classic wooden coasters and amusement park history. Visitors become part of a community that values the preservation of these vintage machines.
The ride operates during park hours and draws crowds during summer weekends, so visiting early or on weekdays helps minimize wait times. Weather affects operation, so bringing suitable clothing and staying alert to park announcements will help you plan your visit.
Each wooden plank was individually numbered during the relocation because original construction drawings no longer existed. This meticulous cataloging turned the reassembly into a careful puzzle where every piece had to match its assigned position.
