The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a Smithsonian Institution museum located on the National Mall.
Established by Act of Congress in 2003, it opened to the public in September 2016.
It holds more than 36,000 artifacts related to the African American experience.
Admission is free, but timed entry passes are required.
It's the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture.
