The Maison de La Boétie features Italian Renaissance elements with intricate stone carvings, ornate windows, and a distinctive facade extending over a passageway.
Built between 1520 and 1525 by Antoine de La Boétie, this residence became the birthplace of philosopher Etienne de La Boétie in 1530.
The ground floor houses a permanent exhibition about Etienne de La Boétie, while the first floor displays an artistic installation of his writings.
The mansion requires extensive restoration work estimated at 716,335 euros, with fundraising efforts currently underway through the Heritage Mission program.
The building includes an architectural innovation of its time with its extension constructed above a passage leading to a rear courtyard.
