Evangel University is a private church-affiliated college located in Springfield's northeastern area, featuring academic buildings, student housing, and athletic facilities across its spacious grounds. The institution combines traditional higher education with religious instruction rooted in Pentecostal theology.
The college began in 1955 on land once occupied by O'Reilly General Hospital, a military facility from World War II. A 2013 merger with Central Bible College and an Assemblies of God seminary expanded the institution into a larger educational complex.
