Bellevue State Park

Bellevue State Park spans a large area along limestone bluffs with two distinct sections: the Nelson Unit and Dyas Unit featuring trails that overlook the Mississippi River. Both sections offer different opportunities for visitors to explore the landscape.

The park grounds contain burial mounds from the Middle Woodland period, indicating early human settlements along the Mississippi River cliffs. These archaeological features show a long history of human presence in the region.

The South Bluff Nature Center displays exhibits about regional wildlife and geology, with educational programs available year-round. Visitors can learn about the natural surroundings and their characteristics through these offerings.

The Nelson Unit has reservable picnic areas, a day lodge, and multiple hiking trails for different fitness levels. The Dyas Unit offers camping sites with and without electrical connections for overnight stays.

A butterfly garden attracts numerous different species during warm seasons, offering visitors the chance to observe these colorful insects. The nearby pond serves as a learning site where children can discover local water ecosystems.
