Burnet Woods is a city park in Cincinnati, Ohio, bordering the University of Cincinnati campus, with walking paths, open lawns, a small lake, and a nature center on its grounds. It sits between the Clifton and University Heights neighborhoods and can be entered from several points along Clifton Avenue.
The park opened in 1872 as part of Cincinnati's growing system of public green spaces, making it one of the older city parks in the region. A bandstand, a lake, and other features were added in the early 1900s, turning it into a gathering place for the city.
The bandstand from the early 1900s still stands in the park and is used for concerts and community events today. Visitors can sit nearby under the trees and watch performances much as people did a century ago.
The park is easy to reach from Clifton Avenue, with parking available nearby and public transit running along the street. Those who want to visit the nature center or walk around the lake should allow enough time, as the grounds are large.
The Trailside Nature Center inside the park holds a planetarium that is said to be the oldest public one west of the Allegheny Mountains. The small lake nearby is also one of the few places in Ohio where fishing is allowed without a license.
