Camp Evans

Camp Evans is a historic military research complex in New Jersey with more than fifty buildings that housed scientific and technological experiments. The site now contains the InfoAge Science History Center, which displays exhibits about radio technology and radar development.

The site began in 1914 as Marconi's wireless station in Belmar before being transformed into a radar research center during World War II. After the war, scientific work continued and produced groundbreaking advances in radio technology.

The InfoAge Science History Center displays the evolution of radio technology and military equipment that researchers developed here over many decades. Visitors can see how these innovations changed everyday life and communication.

Visitors can explore the grounds through guided tours organized by the InfoAge Science History Center. It is recommended to arrange in advance and allow plenty of time to see the various buildings and exhibits.

In 1946, scientists here conducted the first successful lunar radar experiment, sending radio waves to the moon and back. This event marked a milestone in space research and proved that radio could bridge the distance to the moon.
