Columbus Square is a residential complex of five glass towers stretching from 97th to 100th Street between Columbus Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue. Each building contains apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows, stainless steel fixtures, and a variety of amenities, totaling around 359 units across the development.
The project began under the original name Columbus Village and was completed in 2009 as one of Manhattan's largest residential construction projects at that time. Its completion transformed the Upper West Side, converting a significant area into a modern residential neighborhood.
The complex houses educational facilities including the Mandell School and Solomon Schechter School, which shape the learning environment for local families. These schools draw students and parents through the area daily, making it a neighborhood gathering point.
The area is easy to explore on foot since all towers are close together and well served by public transit. The quieter times are early morning and late afternoon, when school traffic has eased and walking through the neighborhood is more pleasant.
At the heart of the complex sits a major grocery retailer that opened in 2009 and serves as a daily shopping destination for residents. The store is street-facing, demonstrating how modern residential developments integrate retail functions directly into their design.
