The rectangular frame church building, constructed in 1854, stands near the river branch with a traditional design common to rural religious structures.
Founded in 1726 by Ulster Scots immigrants, the church received its land warrant from Governor Thomas Penn in 1737 for a meeting house.
The cemetery contains graves of Revolutionary War veterans, a Continental Congress member, and numerous Sussex County residents from different periods.
The church maintains regular Sunday services at 9:30 AM and preserves historical records of the congregation dating back to the colonial era.
The original structure featured a red exterior with two front doors and a gallery, reflecting early American Presbyterian architectural preferences.
