Cuckoo, Federal mansion in Mineral, United States
The two-story brick residence features a central hall layout with single rooms on each side and a semicircular closet between fireplaces.
Henry Pendleton constructed this Federal-style residence in 1819 near the location of the former Cuckoo Tavern, from where Jack Jouett began his ride.
The Pendleton family maintained a legacy of medical practice with two separate doctor's offices on the property, serving the local community for generations.
The property stands prominently along U.S. Route 33 and includes multiple structures such as a garage, barn, smokehouse, and the Pendleton family cemetery.
The 2011 Virginia earthquake caused significant structural damage to the building, resulting in the collapse of its original tall chimneys.
