Daniel Boone Hotel

The Daniel Boone Hotel is a ten-story building with a light brick facade accented by cream-colored terra cotta trim, displaying early 20th-century skyscraper design. The structure combines classical architectural elements with the modern high-rise construction of that era.

The hotel opened in 1929 based on a design by William Lee Stoddart, a prominent architect of the period. Two major expansions followed, significantly increasing the building's size in later years.

The hotel served as a gathering place where legislators and business leaders met to conduct state affairs in its rooms. It shaped the public life of Charleston for many decades.

The building sits on Capitol Street in downtown Charleston and is easy to find. Today it functions as an office building, but you can admire the exterior architecture and details from the street.

The building hosted numerous high-ranking political figures who traveled to Charleston for important meetings and discussions. This behind-the-scenes role made it a quiet influencer on state affairs during much of the 20th century.
