Dexter School, private, independent school in Brookline, Massachusetts, United States
Dexter School is a school complex in Michigan consisting of nine buildings that serve students from preschool through high school. The campus includes Jenkins ECLC for preschoolers, Anchor and Beacon for young learners, Wylie Elementary, Creekside Intermediate, Mill Creek Middle School, and Dexter High School, plus an alternative school for students with different needs.
The first school was built in 1830 on B Street, and a second building appeared in 1843 nearby. In 1950, twelve smaller school districts combined to form Dexter Community Schools as it exists today.
The name "Dexter" comes from the town's early history. The schools serve as gathering places where families participate in community events like sports games and performances throughout the year.
The school campus consists of nine buildings within walking distance of each other that serve different grade levels. The campus is centrally located in the town of Dexter and close to residential areas, making it easy to reach by bus or on foot.
The Copeland Building site was originally the Dexter Union Schoolhouse from 1857, which was rebuilt in 1887 and heavily expanded in 1936. This location shows how the facility continuously modernized over more than a century.
