DuPont Building, The DuPont Building, occupying the entire block bound by 10th, 11th, Orange and Market streets, was one of the first high-rises in Wilmington, Delaware

The DuPont Building is a mixed-use high-rise in Wilmington, Delaware, housing offices and Hotel du Pont. Constructed between 1908 and 1923, it features Italian Renaissance Revival architecture with over 13 stories, symmetrical facades, and decorative stonework.

The building was constructed during the era when DuPont company, which started in gunpowder manufacturing, grew into a major industrial force in Wilmington. In 1913, part of the structure was converted into Hotel du Pont, and it served as the company's headquarters until 2015.

The building carries the name of the DuPont family, whose influence shaped Wilmington's industrial development. Today, visitors experience the city's past through its halls and the way the space continues to serve as a gathering place for dining, shopping, and lodging.

The building sits centrally at Rodney Square and is easily accessed on foot, with various restaurants, shops, and services inside and nearby. Visitors can explore the theater, hotel, and dining options independently, with everything needed within walking distance.

The building hosted a significant moment in American history when politician Joe Biden announced his candidacy for the US Senate in 1972 from within the hotel. This event underscores the place's importance beyond its commercial role.
