Dixie Caverns

Dixie Caverns is a limestone cave system in Salem featuring stalactites, stalagmites, and mineral deposits lit by carefully positioned lights throughout the passages. The property also includes a 44-dealer antiques mall, a rock shop, and camping facilities with RV hookups for overnight stays.

Two farm boys discovered the cave system in 1920 when their hunting dog Dixie fell through an opening in the ground. This discovery led to the cave being explored and eventually developed as a commercial attraction.
