Earlville Opera House, Historic opera house in Earlville, United States.
Earlville Opera House is a three-story theater building that occupies six units of the Douglass Block, combining storefronts on the ground floor with a performance hall and balcony above. The structure now houses three art galleries and an artisan gift shop alongside the performance space.
This building represents the third theater constructed at the site, as two earlier structures burned down between 1890 and 1892. The current version has survived and evolved from its original purpose into a multifaceted cultural venue.
Today the space operates as a community cultural center with galleries and gift shop celebrating local artisans and creators. Visitors can experience how the building serves as a gathering place where people encounter regional craftsmanship and art.
The Opera House is open Tuesday through Sunday and welcomes visitors to explore the art galleries and artisan shop. Since the location combines cultural offerings and regional products in one place, you can easily spend several hours visiting different areas.
Artist Joey Skaggs purchased the building in 1971 to prevent its demolition and donated it to the community for restoration. His intervention ensured the theater could be preserved and reopened as a cultural hub.
