The museum emerged from the Art Club of Erie, founded in 1898, and established its current institution in 1980, expanding into an 80,000-square-foot complex in 2010.
The institution coordinates Gallery Nights throughout the year and presents diverse exhibitions featuring local artists alongside international artworks in rotating displays.
Located at 20 East 5th Street, the museum welcomes visitors Wednesday through Friday from 11 AM to 6 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 1 PM to 6 PM.
The museum complex incorporates five historic structures, including the Greek Revival Old Custom House from 1837 and the Cashiers House completed in 1839.
