Forest Park Boulevard Historic District
Forest Park Boulevard Historic District, Residential historic district in Fort Wayne, US.
The Forest Park Boulevard Historic District is a residential quarter with around 90 buildings showcasing Colonial Revival and Tudor Revival architecture. The homes feature ornamental lamp posts and stone markers at their entrances.
The district emerged between 1890 and 1955 during Fort Wayne's expansion phase. Notable architects including Charles R. Weatherhogg and the pair Pohlmeyer & Pohlmeyer shaped several home designs during this era.
The neighborhood displays residential homes from the early 20th century with handcrafted details like carved woodwork and decorative brickwork. Walking through the streets, you see traditional front porches throughout that invite sitting and socializing.
The district stretches between Dodge Avenue and Lake Avenue, with boundaries marked by alleys between Forest Park Boulevard and Anthony Boulevard. Walking through the area lets you explore different homes at a relaxed pace.
The neighborhood also contains 15 contributing objects and one contributing site that document middle-class living from that time. These smaller structures help show how residents lived and worked in the early 20th century.
