Phan Rang-Tháp Chàm sits between Mui Ne and Nha Trang along the South Central Coast and stretches across flat terrain with beaches and traditional markets. The city sits at about 5 meters elevation on average.
The settlement began around 757 as the Panduranga principality under Cham rule and grew into a religious center. It only gained city status in 2007 when it took on provincial administrative functions.
The Po Klong Garai temple displays detailed brickwork with fine mortar lines that show how Cham craftspeople built their structures. Visitors walking through the complex can observe these traditional construction techniques firsthand.
The city connects to major destinations through National Routes 1A and 27, with a railway system serving passenger and cargo traffic. Visitors find easy access from nearby coastal towns.
The region is Vietnam's main wine production area with extensive vineyards spreading across the surrounding countryside. Locally grown grapes are pressed here and available in the region.
