Sơn La Dam is a hydroelectric power station on the Black River in Sơn La Province, featuring six Francis turbines that convert water flow into electricity. The facility manages water levels to support energy generation and irrigation needs across the region.

The construction project led to the relocation of 91,000 residents from ethnic minority communities, requiring extensive social adaptation programs.
