Lieuwenburgzoom, Public park in Camminghaburen district, Leeuwarden, Netherlands
Lieuwenburgzoom is a park in the Camminghaburen neighborhood that stretches between primary schools and features a central fishing pond. It offers playfields, climbing equipment, a basketball court, and a halfpipe for skating activities.
The park was developed in the 1980s as part of a residential expansion project for the Camminghaburen area. The design aimed to create spaces where different age groups could interact within their growing neighborhood.
Students from nearby schools created a small wooded area within the park grounds. Their involvement transformed this space into a place where young people left their own mark on their neighborhood.
The park is freely accessible and offers multiple activity zones including a football cage and skating halfpipe. Weekday mornings and afternoons tend to be less crowded than evenings and weekends.
A striking art installation called Porta Futura stands near the water area and draws inspiration from ancient amphitheater designs. This sculptural element adds an unexpected architectural dimension to the recreational space.
