Reinheimen National Park

Reinheimen encompasses 1,969 square kilometers of mountain ranges, with peaks reaching over 2,000 meters above sea level and deep valleys cutting through the terrain.

The Norwegian government established this protected area in 2006 to preserve the mountain ecosystems and natural landscapes of the Tafjordfjella mountain range.

Ancient hunting structures, including pitfalls and mass trapping systems, remain scattered throughout the park, showing evidence of traditional reindeer hunting practices.

Visitors can access multiple entry points to the park from the nearby towns of Åndalsnes, Dombås, and Vågåmo, with several marked trails available for exploration.

The park features two distinct geological zones: sharp, pointed peaks with fast rivers in the west and gentler slopes with broader valleys in the east.
