Aker Stadion, football stadium
Aker Stadion is a football stadium in the Reknes district of Molde, Norway, sitting directly on the edge of the Romsdalsfjord. The ground has covered stands on all sides of the pitch and is built to handle top-flight Norwegian league matches.
The stadium opened in 1998 to give Molde FK a proper home in the top flight of Norwegian football. Its name comes from the Aker group, a Norwegian industrial company that held the naming rights.
Aker Stadion is known as the home of Molde FK, one of the most decorated clubs in Norwegian football. On match days, fans fill the stands and the view of the Romsdalsfjord behind the pitch makes the setting hard to forget.
The stadium is easy to reach from central Molde, either on foot or by bus, since it sits close to the town center. On match days it is worth arriving early, as the area around the ground fills up quickly before kickoff.
Aker Stadion is one of the few football grounds in the world where you can watch a match with a fjord directly behind one of the goals. This waterside position makes it one of the more unusual playing venues in Scandinavia.
