Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel is a heritage hotel on Karl Johans gate with 284 rooms, including 54 suites, distributed across a white granite structure topped by a distinctive clock tower. It occupies a central location between the Norwegian Parliament and the Royal Palace.

The hotel was founded in 1874 by Julius Fritzner and became a leading establishment in Oslo from its earliest years. Its position between major institutions shaped its role as a gathering place throughout its long history.

The Nobel Peace Prize winners stay in a dedicated suite during the annual award ceremony, making this a place of global recognition. This tradition has connected the hotel to one of the world's most prestigious honors for generations.

The Norwegian writer Henrik Ibsen followed a fixed routine at the Grand Café, arriving precisely at noon each day for his meals. This habit made him a familiar figure at the hotel throughout his years in Oslo.
