Imja Tse, Mountain in Nepal
Imja Tse, also known as Island Peak, is a mountain located in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal.
The mountain was named Island Peak by Eric Shipton's party in 1953 due to its striking resemblance to an island in a sea of ice.
Imja Tse is popular with climbers as a preparation for higher altitude peaks, including Mount Everest.
Climbing Imja Tse requires acclimatization due to its high altitude of 6,189 meters (20,305 feet).
Situated in the Sagarmatha Zone, Imja Tse offers climbers spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan range.
