The Khumbu Icefall is a dangerous stage of the South Col route to Everest's summit.

First crossed by the 1953 British Mount Everest expedition, the Khumbu Icefall has claimed many lives of mountaineers.

The Khumbu Icefall is considered sacred by the local Sherpa community.

Due to its shifting ice blocks and deep crevasses, it requires extreme caution while climbing.
