Nuptse I, Mountain peak in the Khumbu region
Nuptse is a mountain in the Himalayas that rises just southwest of Mount Everest.
Nuptse was first summited on May 16, 1961 by British climbers Dennis Davis and Sherpa Tashi.
The name Nuptse is Tibetan and means 'west peak', referring to its direction from Everest.
Climbing Nuptse is highly challenging due to its fierce weather conditions and steep faces.
Nuptse is noteworthy for its dramatic south face, which drops over 2,300 meters to the Khumbu glacier.
