Kórnik Castle, Gothic Revival castle in Kórnik, Poland
The red brick castle features a Gothic Revival tower on its eastern side and stands near Lake Kórnik with ornate architectural details throughout its structure.
Built in the 14th century, the castle underwent major reconstruction in 1855 according to plans by Karl Friedrich Schinkel for the Działyński family.
The Kórnik Library within the castle holds over 350,000 volumes, including the original manuscript of Adam Mickiewicz's 'Dziady' and Napoleon's writings.
Visitors can explore both the castle museum and the surrounding Kórnik Arboretum, which contains more than 3,300 species of trees and shrubs.
The Moor Room, modeled after the Court of Lions at Alhambra, displays national art pieces in an environment influenced by Islamic architecture.
