The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, also known as the Eastern Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, is an autocephalous church within the wider communion of Orthodox Christianity.
Established by Saint James in the 1st century AD, it is one of the original fifteen autocephalous churches.
It plays a pivotal role in the religious and cultural life of Orthodox Christians in the Holy Land.
The church's headquarters are located in the ancient Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
Despite its name, the patriarchate is predominantly composed of Arabic-speaking Palestinians.
