Serra d'Aire Dinossaur Traceways

The limestone surface contains multiple sauropod footprint tracks extending across 147 meters within a former quarry at 320 meters elevation.

Scientists discovered the tracks in July 1994, leading to the site's protection as a natural monument by Portuguese authorities in October 1996.

Educational panels along the walking trail present geological information while life-sized sauropod statues demonstrate the scale of these prehistoric animals.

The natural monument opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00, located 120 kilometers north of Lisbon with entrance fees including guided tours.

The limestone bed contains twenty distinct trackways from herbivorous sauropods that walked through this coastal plain 175 million years ago.
