Monumento aos Heróis da Guerra Peninsular, War memorial in Entrecampos Square, Lisbon, Portugal
The Monument to the Heroes of the Peninsular War stands 12 meters tall, featuring limestone at its base and bronze elements in the upper section.
Constructed following a 1908 competition to commemorate the Portuguese resistance during the Peninsular War, the monument was officially inaugurated in January 1932.
The monument displays twelve shields representing towns involved in the Peninsular War, with a central figure symbolizing the Portuguese homeland.
Located at the entrance of Campo Grande, the monument serves as a reference point between the Alvalade and Avenidas Novas districts of Lisbon.
The structure includes inscriptions detailing the popular uprising of June 1808 and features detailed bronze figures depicting civilians defending their nation.
